LoDo is short for Lower Downtown, and it is the neighborhood every other "walkable urban" pitch in this guide gets compared to. Brick warehouses converted into loft condos, cobblestone patches that give away how old this part of the city actually is, and Union Station anchoring the whole thing two blocks from wherever you happen to be standing. On a game night the energy here is real, not manufactured, Coors Field sits right at the edge of the neighborhood and the whole area feels it.
It is also genuinely small, which is part of the appeal. You can walk from one end of LoDo to the other in about fifteen minutes, which means restaurants, the train, and your front door are never more than a short walk apart. The tradeoff is the same one every dense urban core makes: less private outdoor space, more noise on weekend nights, and a price tag that spans from a modest one bedroom resale to a brand new penthouse.
LoDo is Union Station, so the entire RTD light rail and commuter rail network (including the A Line straight to DIA) starts at your doorstep. I-25 is a couple minutes away by car. If you work downtown, you can genuinely skip owning a car here.
LoDo falls under Denver Public Schools, the district that serves nearly all of Denver. DPS runs a wide range of school quality building to building, more than most districts in this guide, and it also runs one of the most extensive school choice and charter systems in the state. Given LoDo's resident mix skews toward young professionals and empty nesters, most buyers here are not shopping by school anyway, but if that changes for you, the specific assigned school is worth checking before anything else.
If LoDo's version of downtown living sounds like your speed, that is a conversation worth having directly. Call or text and let's go see it.
There's plenty to do around LoDo, including shopping, dining, nightlife, parks, and more. Data provided by Walk Score and Yelp.
